Lee Jones - LTM Northampton

Lee is Group Scout Leader with the 23rd Headlands (Northampton East) and is also the County Change Agent a role that ensures the County is kept up to date with the upcoming programme and structure changes. He is also the County Development Advisor.

Lee was a Cub and a Scout in Northampton, leaving at fourteen as he lost interest in the troop. He kept contact with his Group, 11th Weston Favell, by helping out with one of the Cub Packs. Aged seventeen he joined the local District Venture Scout Unit where he became Chairman and gained his Queen Scout Award.

He took out his first warrant in December 1986 as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader with his old Group, but returned to the Venture Scout Section in 1989 as an Assistant Venture Scout Leader then Venture Scout Leader with 23rd Headlands.

In 1993 lee took on the vacant position of Assistant District Commissioner (Venture Scouts) in Northampton East District and then became the Assistant County Commissioner (Venture Scouts) on the 1st April 1997 ending his term on 31st December 2000.

Lee has completed training in both the Cub and Venture Scout sections and gained his wood badge in GCA Training.

He joined the County Training Team in 1996 having tutored on the LT1 Venture Scouts and attended a Directing Training Course at Gilwell Park in 1997.

Lee is responsible for Venture Scout Leader Training in the county and in 2000 directed the first East Midlands LT1 Venture Scouts, a course that will be repeated in 2001. He also directs one or the LT2 courses and experienced at working on Introductory and GCA courses within the County.

Lee is a member of the County Executive and has served on Group and District Executives. He is a member of the Scout Fellowship and the Northampton Emergency Aid Team.

Lee was awarded the Chief Scouts Commendation for good service in 1997 and holds competencies in presenting, facilitating and directing.

He is currently working towards his Further and Adult Education Teachers Certificate (NVQ3 7306) along with other members of the team.
