Patsy Coles - ACC Beaver Scouts / Trainer
Patsy Coles is the Assistant County Commissioner for Beaver Scouts, a role she has held since April 1998.
Her first interest in Scouting began back in 1982, when approached by a Cub Scout Leader to look into starting a brand new section of Scouting called BEAVERS. The following May the first Colony in the County was started at the 1st Finedon (St. Mary's) Scout Group in Wellingborough District, where Patsy was Assistant Beaver Scout Leader for 5 years, and then went on to become the Leader. Thus participating in the first Basic and Advanced Training Courses run for Beaver Scout Leaders.
In 1989, Patsy took on the role of Assistant District Commissioner for Beaver Scouts in Wellingborough District; within 2 years she had completed her Commissioners Training, and a Training Techniques/Tutor Training/ and Presentation Skills Courses.
The first course on which Patsy tutored was the Leadership 1 for Beaver Scouts in 1991. This was followed be helping with sessions on various courses, later becoming the Deputy Course Directory on a Leadership 1 Beaver Scouts in 1993.
Patsy was awarded the Chief Scout Commendation for Good Service in 1993, the same year she became Wellingborough's Assistant District Commissioner for Cub Scouts, when she began tutoring on Cub Scout Leader courses and gaining her own Leadership 1 Cub Scouts, and the Camping Endorsement in 1994.
When Patsy began her role as Assistant County Commissioner for Beaver Scouts she became involved again with the training for Beaver Scout Leaders. Come September she assisted in running the first Beaver Scout Leaders 'Sleepover' Module Training, then became Director on the following courses.
During 1999, Patsy acquired her Presenting and Facilitating Competencies. In November that year, Patsy attended a Headquarters run Directing Training Course held at Leeds, and is currently working towards her Competency for this.
February 2000 saw another new initiative for the County, when the Sleepover Training module was combined with the Leadership 1 Course, where Patsy was the Course Director.
